Home / Services

Every kind of hardwood work, under one roof.

Installation, refinishing, custom inlays, patterned floors, stairs and restoration — all by our own in-house crew. One family responsible for the whole job, the way it's been since 1901.

01 β€” WHAT WE DO

Six things we do better than anyone in Nashville.

We've narrowed a century of trade down to what we're truly known for. No tile, no carpet, no shortcuts — just hardwood, done right.

01 β€” Installation

Hardwood installation

Solid and engineered plank in oak, walnut, cherry, maple and exotics — nail-down, glue-down or floating, over properly prepped and moisture-tested subfloor. We lay wide-plank and live-sawn white oak, prefinished systems, and traditional strip floors to a flat, tight, lasting result.

02 β€” Refinishing

Sand & refinishing

Worn, scratched or dated floors brought back to life. We sand flat, repair damaged boards, stain to the exact tone you want, and seal with durable oil or water-based finishes in matte, satin or gloss. Dustless containment keeps your home clean throughout.

03 β€” Inlays & borders

Custom inlays & borders

The detail work that sets a Verchota floor apart. Hand-cut medallions, hearth inlays, contrasting species and metal accents, and feature borders that frame a room. European inlay technique carried down the family since 1901 — still cut by hand, never machine-stamped.

04 β€” Patterns

Herringbone, chevron & parquet

The most demanding installs we do. Traditional and French herringbone, chevron, basket-weave and parquet, set board by board with pattern-matched borders. If you've seen it in a design magazine, we can build it — and make it last a century.

05 β€” Stairs

Stairs & treads

Matching hardwood treads, risers and landings built and finished to flow seamlessly from your floors. We refinish existing staircases to match new wood, rebuild worn flights, and chase out the squeaks — all in the same species and stain as the rooms they connect.

06 β€” Restoration

Antique & restoration

Our oldest specialty. Heart-pine, century-old oak, historic Nashville homes — we weave new wood into old so the repair disappears, blend stains across decades of wear, and treat a hundred-year-old floor with the respect it has earned. As customer Doug M. put it: "you truly cannot tell where one stops and the other begins."

02 β€” HOW WE WORK

Four steps. The same crew through all of them.

Hardwood is unforgiving — rush the prep or the cure and you live with it for years. Here's the order we never skip.

1
In-home estimate
We see your floor, test moisture and subfloor, talk species and finishes, and leave you a written, itemized number.
2
Prep & layout
Acclimate the wood, level the subfloor, and lay out patterns and borders so every board lands where it should.
3
Install & sand
Board by board, then sanded dead flat. Inlays and borders cut and fit by hand on site.
4
Stain, seal & cure
Stained to your tone, sealed in your sheen, and given real cure time before we call it done.

Not sure which finish you want? Ask the family.

A short conversation usually saves a lot of second-guessing. Call the shop — you'll reach a Verchota, not a call center.
